Members of the Claris team attended the annual American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) meeting in Chicago. They brought back a lot of new information and enjoyed their time in the “windy city.” Here are a few highlights:

× Attended the Ritz-Carlton Service Excellence course

× Learned about new laser vision correction technology that will allow for the higher corrections of near/far/astigmatism prescriptions

× Enjoyed truly authentic Chicago pizza at the legendary Lou Malnati’s pizzeria

× Acquired Eyemaginations, 3D-animated software which will enable us to visually present complex information to our patients so they can see how their disease impacts their vision, in addition to its progression and treatment options

× Learned about new methods for performing pterygium surgery which will lower recurrence rates

× Discovered that waiters at the Chicago Cub Steakhouse are known for their fast service as they descended upon our table

× Heard new updates for the treatment of glaucoma

× Learned about new technology for laser cataract surgery that the Phillips Eye Institute is looking to acquire

× Experienced the wind tunnel at the top of the John Hancock building

Time for Tots Preschool

On Wednesday we spent our lunch hour at Time for Tots preschool. Dr. Carlson talked about the eye, being an Ophthalmologist and the importance of staying in school. Marti did vision screenings on each child while the other children colored eye pictures for our office. At the end of our time we read The Berenstain Bears Jobs Around Town.
