Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance
called hyaluronic acid. But as you age, time, sunlight, and other factors can reduce the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin. The lack of hyaluronic acid causes your skin to lose structure and volume-creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds, like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.
Dermal fillers help replace the hyaluronic acid your skin has lost, adding volume to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds and provide a smooth, natural-looking result.

Preoperatively:
Following an eye exam at Claris Eye Care and Surgery, the use of dermal filler is discussed with you.
Your specific goals of treatment are identified.
Photographs are taken showing the facial areas before Dermal Filler injections.
Topical lidocaine and ice packs are applied (if necessary, lidocaine is injected into the mouth) for patient comfort while the dermal filler is being injected.
Using a very small needle, the medication is injected into the mid-to-deep dermis area. Usually only a minor pin prick is felt and then some slight pressure as the filler is being injected.
After the injection is completed, the treated site will be gently stretched and massaged so that it conforms to the contour of the area surrounding the injection site.
If you are taking a blood thinning agent, contact your primary care physician before procedure.
Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to the treatment.
Bring along makeup for minor touch-ups, as we remove makeup from the treatment area(s).
Postoperatively:
You may feel some discomfort at the site of the injection and temporary reactions such as redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps can happen, also. Side effects are usually mild to moderate, lasting 7 days or less.
Do not lie down or bend over for 4 hours following treatment.
You will be asked not to rub the injected area or engage in strenuous exercise that would cause you to frown or to sweat excessively and to avoid extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.
Makeup may be used immediately.
Expect to see results immediately after treatment and maximum results 7-10 days post operatively.
A post operative visit 2 weeks following treatment is recommended to assess the results and to compare pre/post-treatment photographs. Additional treatment to enhance the effect can be considered at 2 weeks, but full treatment usually lasts for over a year. As the effect lessens further treatments are given.
