For over 25 years, thousands of patients have trusted Dr. Carlson with their eyes. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist, trained at the Mayo Clinic. He is one of the most highly experienced vision correction specialists in the Twin Cities area. Thousands of pairs of Minnesota eyes see better today because of his work.
Dr. Carlson holds a list of long certifications including advanced refractive cataract surgery with PanOptix® and TECNIS® multifocal IOL’s, IQ Vivity™ and IQ Toric® IOL’s utilizing femtosecond laser technology. He is also certified in LASIK, PRK, LASEK, Alcon WaveLight® Wavefront Optimized laser vision correction and VISX Custom Wavefront Laser Vision Correction.

Clinic Supervisor
Melissa is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant with over 19 years of experience, much of her focus being in the cataract and refractive specialties. She has worked with Dr. Carlson at the Allina Health clinics and the Phillips Eye Institute. Melissa has worked in both the clinical and surgical aspects of ophthalmology and understands the importance of having an experienced surgeon and eye team that you can trust. She is devoted, like the entire Claris team, to giving you the highest level of eye care and knowledge in a caring and comfortable environment.
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
Nichole is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant coming to us with over 13 years of experience. She has worked in both a small clinical setting as well as a large university and has always been involved in taking care of patients who have a wide variety of eye care needs. She has worked beside corneal, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, plastic and retinal specialists. That experience is a tremendous asset to Claris Eye Care and our patients.
Nichole knows how important it is to feel comfortable with your surgeon and eye care team. She has helped many pre and post-surgical patients and is always excited to see how patients’ lives can change with better vision. She is committed to giving you the best experience and highest level of care.
Front Office Coordinator
Rachel has been with Claris for 13 years. In those years she has come to appreciate the value of excellent customer service and teamwork. At Claris, she demonstrates compassionate care and dedication to excellence that greatly benefits our patients. Rachel received her degree in Child and Family Studies and Health Education from Concordia College, in Moorhead, Minnesota. She enjoys being outside, in all types of weather, and spending time with her family.
Finance & Billing Specialist
Jennifer joined our team in 2018, as our Finance & Billing Specialist. She received her BA degree in Business Administration from UW-River Falls. Jennifer brings over 20 years of experience working in administrative, bookkeeping and customer service roles to the Claris team. She enjoys working in the background to help the clinic run smoothly overall, and also being a part of the front office team where she can get to know patients and help make each patients’ personal experience run smoothly.
Patient Care Coordinator
Molly is our patient care coordinator with over 11 years of experience in healthcare both administratively and clinically as a Medical Assistant. Having worked in both smaller and larger clinic settings, she appreciates the opportunity that Claris offers her to be able to get to know each of our patients and provide personal and exceptional service to each one of them.
Molly has a degree in Human Resources and Organizational Management so she understands how vital it is for our patients that our staff works as a team to provide high-quality eye care clinical and administrative services to create a comfortable experience at Claris.
DonnaCertified Ophthalmic Assistant
Donna started in eye care 35 years ago as an optician and contact lens technician. She wanted to further her commitment to patient care, so she trained to become a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. She has experience in eye disease management as well as pre- and post-operative eye care and has worked in both small and large practice settings. Donna is compassionate and strives to build trusting relationships with patients. In her short time at Claris so far, she has seen life-changing visual outcomes and is excited to be part of this professional eye care team.
Patient Care Coordinator
Hannah is our Patient Care Coordinator with over six years of experience in health care, four of those in ophthalmology as an ophthalmic assistant. Having worked in larger volume clinics, she appreciates the smaller “family” feeling here at Claris. She believes having compassion for patients is most important.
Hannah received her Bachelor of Science in Fitness and Wellness from Mayville State University in North Dakota. She spends her free time at Warrior Dog Rescue and enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs; Bailee and Zoey, and two cats; Bella and Peaches.
Practice Development Specialist
Charlotte has over 11 years of patient care experience with Claris Eye Care. As a member since its founding, she knows the needs of a private office as it endeavors to bring compassionate, timely and collaborative care to its many patients. Experience in the front office and in the patient care coordinator position gives her a wide-ranging perspective to help Claris develop better ways to deliver outstanding eye care now and in the future.
Charlotte has a BA degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She enjoys reading and puzzle-solving. She volunteers at church and is a math tutor at a local elementary school.
